The original story was printed in the weekly manga magazine Shonen Jump.

That is... different.

Even American comics are no stranger to spoof and parody comics, and sometimes they take on a life of their own despite the obvious absurdity.

Although something tells me this seemed significantly less face-palm worthy in print than it seems to be in live action
