So I just started watching this on Crunchyroll about a month ago, and I've blazed through something like 80 episodes already. The main reason for doing this is that I heard there's a Dragonball X One Piece X Toriko crossover, and instead of just watching that, I wanted to understand the characters and world of Toriko first.

The show is fun. It's a story about Toriko, a Gourmet Hunter who tracks down rare and delicious ingredients, and Komatsu, a 4-star chef who tags along on the adventures even though he's way out of his depth. There are other colorful characters, too, and lots of bizarre plants and creatures. Toriko himself wears an outfit very reminiscent of Goku & Company's from Dragonball, and that's surely intended as a homage. Toriko does feature quite a bit of hand-to-hand combat in addition to the adventure and exploration that comes with hunting for ingredients. There's a lot of light-hearted comedy, also similar to Dragonball. Although Toriko takes place in a unique world that has entered the "Gourmet Age," the general tone of the show is similar to that of a One Piece or Dragonball, so there's a bit of room for a crossover.

So I'm at episode 88. There's some kind of Gourmet Casino story arc that leads up to episode 99, which is the Dragonball X One Piece X Toriko crossover. I'm not a big fan of gambling culture, so this may be a challenge for me to sit through... but I did sit through some awful stuff in order to reach the good parts of Dragonball and One Piece (not to mention many other series). Sometimes watching anime is a labor of love, but if you stick at it, there's almost always a payoff. (Kind of like Tokusatsu shows, actually)

So, anyone else who's watched any Toriko? Anyone else signed up for Crunchyroll? I have a feeling this is a thread that will get zero responses, but I felt like sharing. Enjoy!
