Glyos/OSM/OSW Stands?

Glyos/OSM/OSW Stands?

Postby Tad Ghostal » Sun Sep 01, 2013 7:20 am

Okay, so Terra, Horrorscope and Oprohatem (not to mention a few OSM) have a TEENSY problem standing on their own. I've been using poster tack to keep them in place, and that works pretty well. Does anyone know of a Glyos compatible stand? I thought the new clear minimate stands would be perfect, but the peg is too large.

Thoughts?

I've actually never looked for stands. I also don't have any OSW yet. Right now, Cyclops requires the most strategic posing & weight distribution.

Yup, if I stand him straight up w/ feet side by side he likes to fall backwards.

So I give him an ever so slight forward lean... aww hell. I'm already taking pictures, let me get one of him. A few to several moments if you please.

So, that's how I pose him for balance. I will likely try the same w/ the OSW.

So I cut down the pegs on the smaller minimate bases, and they work like a charm, for the most part. In very warm temps, the plastic in the feet has softened up and the more aggressive poses have taken a nosedive. (My Cyclops hit the floor and exploded last week!)

Anyway, while biding my time waiting for the NYCC/Beta phase announcement, I figured it was time for the 1st OSW Swimsuit competition! One surprise I came across during the mixing and matching is that Ophra's & Terra's collars are glued in place. Gotta keep an eye on that now that I've taken them apart!

Was the diameter on the minimates bases the right size? All you had to do was cut down their height?

sorry that description wasnt accurate - the height is fine, I took a little off the sides - less than a 1/16" each side I think - to turn the round peg into a square. I'll get a picture up soon.

But there are 2 types of bases currently shipping with minimates nowadays. I used the smaller of the two as it has a softer, easier-to-cut plastic. I used a utility knife.

I am fighting the urge to get a terra firma and a HORRORSCOPE
so I can make that orange and purple terra firma....

I talked to the Horsemen about these and they definitely want to put out Glyos stands with additional inherent possibilities to them.

Just curious, had anyone tried any other kinds of stands that work?

That's cool.

I know a lot of people have made note of Terra Firma and the other OSW having difficulty standing, but I recently opened up an Alpha Terra Firma and I was able to get her to stand up great even with her helmet and jetpack on and pistol in hand. I'll admit that her balance is a little iffy, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be as she seems to hold her standing position very well. She stands much more securely than the Star Wars Imperial Navy Commander figure and she doesn't have to be posed in a hunched over position in order to be able to stand on her own like the Star Wars figure does.

Anyway, the stands/bases will no doubt eliminate the balance issues with the OSW figures, of which I plan to buy more of after having opened the Alpha Terra Firma.
