Pretty sure it's because they are resin. That accounts for both cost and run numbers.

Also, and no offense is meant towards anyone involved with Defenders of Eden, because it looks like top-notch stuff, but we're talking about a small project that is currently known to a small number of people. The comic hasn't released a signle issue yet, only 45 people contributed to the kickstarter, and only 2 of them at a level where they would have gotten a staction. Making a large production run wouldn't make a lot of sense.

I actually had the opposite reaction to that of mholst; I'm thinking $75 (or $90 for the bust) for something that big and detailed, done in resin, is a steal. I still can't afford it, but it's a good deal.

It's a tricky thing. Hopefully there can be a second Kickstarter campaign after spreading the word a bit. These days there's just so much stuff out there, it's hard to make a splash. This is a cool project, though.

Definitely a cool project, no doubt about it. $15 for a single comic and $75 for a staction are just not happening for me personally (probably why there are so few backers too...). Like most of us here I'll be keeping my eye on this one anyway :D

The Kickstarter was definitely a learning process. We can look back now and see what we can do differently. Thanks for the support.

I hope you guys give it a go again!

Have you thought about releasing DoE as a web comic? I supported another project around the same time that came out as a web comic, and then they just did a Kickstarter to print the collected edition. Might be a nice way to go.
