Delphina With a Painted Neck

Delphina With a Painted Neck

So I'm pretty convinced that several of the AoD figures were made missing some obvious paint applications. One of them, I think, is Delphina on her neck. I'm not sure what the silver neck is supposed to be since her armor quite clearly ends at the neck. She reminds me of later G.I. Joe releases that simply failed to paint the neck (Cobra Troopers, Baroness, Crimson Guards, etc.).

Here is my attempt to fix it, by simply using a Citadel flesh tone (it was quite hard to match Delphina's color).

This is a major improvement, I think, when she isn't wearing her helmet. It also looks better when she is wearing the helmet, but I forgot to take pictures of that.

Ravaena is another figure that I think looks silly without a flesh-colored neck, but I have totally failed to match her skin tone in any reasonable way.

that really does look much better.

I've never had much success with skin tones while painting. In all fairness, I was probably not using the right kind of paint

What exact color did you use? I'd like to try this myself.

Citadel's Cadian Fleshtone. It looks just slightly off when first applied, but when it dried, it was almost a perfect match.

When you put the helmet on, isn't the fleshy neck exposed?

I would imagine this is an option best used by people that don't swap heads.

For me, I pick whichever head I like best and use that one pretty much exclusively, only using the other head if there is another figure to use it on.

Yes, it is.

But I think that looks much better. It also fits the figure's mold lines. As I said in my initial post, what is the silver neck supposed to represent? You can see that the molded armor ends right at the neckline.

If I'm not mistaken, they fixed this paint app issue with Faustia (the Red Cleric) and Thallyn (the frost elf). Both have painted necks, even though both of them come with an alternate helmeted head.

The main issue is that you have to commit to a skin shade. If you want to head swap with Gwendolynn, Jjuno, Ravaena, etc., they all have different flesh tones. Delphina's is the easiest to match.

Here is the helmeted head. The truth is that the painted neck is hard to spot because of how the helmet sits.

Delphina is my favorite figure by far. I thought she would be before I got her and I am not disappointed with her in hand.
